Acknowledge that there is lot of noise in your head. Once you can acknowledge this then you can begin to understand the noise and how it is affecting you. Most of the noise is made up of what we think we have to do or must do. One of the most profound self help habits you can begin to cultivate is to liten to, and trust yourself. When you focus too much attention on what others say and think about you, you will hinder your self help efforts and slow down your progress.
The one thing we absolutely have to remember is that when it comes to crafting a self help and self improvement plan is that the most important person you need consult with and listen to person is you. Many of us confuse life purpose with our daily roles and responsibilities as employee, life partner, parent or child.
Through a good self help approach we can still listen to the opinions of others but one of the most importan self improvement tips you can begin to incorporate in your life is to be true to yourself. Your self help efforts should help you to take responsibility for your personal and spiritual growth. If you truly want to incorporate self improvement strategies into your life then there are two types of noise you must quiet.
Noise Type 1:
The one type is the views, expectations and opinions of everyone else around you. The second type of noise are the duties, responsibilities and expectations you put on yourself that does not align with a life with purpose.

Self Help Tip 2: Start Listening to Yourself
One of the best self help habits you can adopt for yourself is to listen to yourself. Once you have filtered out everyone else’s’ expectations and inputs on what you must or should do then only can you truly be guided by your inner self and begin to hear and eventually understand what is truly in your best interest and will ultimately contribute to your overall self improvement and well-being.
A valuable self help tip is that you can do to start building self-awareness and identify the areas that require self improvement truly start listening to yourself and developing self improvement strategies. One of the best ways to listen to yourself is to start to journal your thoughts. We have so many thoughts daily and we get so busy that we forget some of our most important and powerful thoughts. By recording your thoughts, emotions and aspirations you can begin to trace a pattern over time and begin to craft a self help and self improvement plan.
Meditation & Quiet Time
Another self help technique to use to begin to listen to yourself is to spend quiet time or meditate. When we are quiet and not focused on business and tasks our minds have a great way of accessing thoughts and feelings that is usually not in our consciousness. You can also ask yourself a question such as: “How can I express my life purpose”? You can then go into silence or meditate on the question. The thoughts and images that come to you is usually a great way of crafting a self improvement plan.
Many self help and self improvement programs recommend that you can also use a combination of writing and meditation. As you go into silence or meditate, make sure to keep a journal close by. When you come out of your meditation, record all the thoughts and images that came to you. Do this regularly for a few weeks or even months. As you go back and read and reflect on all the thoughts that came to you, you will begin to find a pattern that is a possible indication of the areas that you can target for self improvement.
Self Help Tip 3: Identify Your Passions
When we do things that we enjoy, we feel alive and valuable. Through applying some basic self help and self improvement strategies we can begin to identify what brings us joy and how we can build true happiness around our life meaning and purpose. As you go about your daily tasks, notice what the types of conversations are that excite you. What are the things you hear about or see that gets your blood pumping? What are the things that people say and do that you get emotional about?
Strong emotions such as joy or anger are usually strong indicators of your passions that may be connected to your life purpose. Self help strategies can help you identify any srong emotions around certain topics and thus give you clarity on what you are pasisionate about so that you can begin to focus on specific self improvement areas in your life.
Emotional Hot Buttons
One of the most important self help tools you can develop is the skill of self awareness. If you are aware of your emotions and what presses your buttons so to speak, you can begin to consciously address those issues. For instance, if you get very angry and upset about injustice then maybe doing some volunteer work where you feel you make a difference can be a test to see if this is part of your purpose.
Alternatively, if doing art with young children brings you immense joy, then seek out opportunities to be with children and do art. You may just find ways of making that activity an integral part of what you do every day. Finding meaning in your life and doing what you enjoy is a very important step in the overall self improvementof your life.
